Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Since 2008, the Nassau Sunshine Fund has provided emergency financial assistance, in the form of zero-interest loans of up to $700 per applicant, to residents of the Town of Nassau, the Village of Nassau, the Village of East Nassau as well as other residents in the 12123-zip code.

In 2025, the Fund expanded to include the CT Olsen Athletic Scholarship. This scholarship program was created to help make local sports more accessible for families in our service area.

Who We Are

The Nassau Sunshine Fund is an all-volunteer organization. Each board member serves on a committee or as an officer of the Fund. There are three committees: 1) Fund Disbursement, 2) CT Olsen Athletic Scholarship Committee and 3) Fundraising. The Fund Disbursement Committee meets with individuals interested in a loan, reviews need, makes direct payments to vendors and sets up a repayment plan with the borrower. The CT Olsen Athletic Scholarship Committee members answers questions, reviews, approves applications and makes payments directly to the sports organization on behalf of the family. The Fundraising Committee oversees all fundraising activities.
